What is Real Size in the City?
RealSize is how I describe women that society has labeled plus size, overweight, fat, voluptuous, full figured, plump, curvy… the list goes on and on. One study shows that over 50% of the women in the US wear a size 14 or above - as if we didn't already know! Size 14 should be average, but it’s considered plus-sized. I figure that if the majority of women in the US are over a size 14, it isn’t plus – it’s Real. Truth be told, plus size begins at a size - get ready for this - 10. Yup, in the fashion world 10/12 is considered plus, just at the smaller end of the stick (no pun intended).
I hope that this will be the place all RealSize women will want to flock to (I hope, fingers crossed! LOL!). Here you will find all sorts of fun things to do… no more woe-is-me crap! We’ll talk about great places to go and experience brave new adventures. Who says that just because we’re fat we can’t bring “Sexy Back” (had to put that in there, love that Justin Timberlake - and it rhymed! OK, I digress...). That’s right ladies, get out of those sweat pants and that oversized tee! This web site is going to take your life by storm. Gone are the days of watching everyone else enjoy their life in your city. You’re fat, so freaking what. It is no excuse. This web site that I have given birth to - with lots of love and help from many of you - is for us. That’s right I said us – I’m fat too, baby!
RealSize in the City is like no other plus size web site you have ever been to. I wanted to create a site that I would love to check out myself. In looking for plus size web sites what I found was all about lose weight, dating, sex…yada, yada, yada. Don’t get me wrong, those aren’t bad things (and you will even find some of that here!), I just wanted a site where I could find out all sorts of fun stuff: Great places to eat (cause you know we love to eat!), great shopping (how to stay healthy, not necessarily lose weight!), dating tips, travel-talk (because I live to travel!), and other fun things to do. Ever wanted to go to the opera, do tea with the girls, check out a pilates or burlesque class, go wine tasting, travel to Europe? Many of us want to do those things but don’t. Well, today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Listen ladies, your life should be full and fun no matter your size! You should enjoy each and every day that God has given to you, because the fact is, once that day is gone you can never get it back. For some reason I have been given the gift of motivation! I love my, what I like to call RealSize Ladies! I have been RealSize all of my life, and let me tell ya, I have not let my life pass me by! As of this moment, I vow that you won’t either! I am always out and about “dating my city”! You, too, can date your city - alone or with your girlfriends. It is soo much fun - I dare you to try it!!!!!
As a former Fashion Stylist for a nation wide plus size retailer, I was really able to speak to RealSize women from all over the world. I’ve learned a lot about what they are doing, what they want to do, how they feel about themselves and their lives etc, etc, etc. However the best thing for me was hearing the excitement in a woman’s voice as I helped her pick out a fabulous ensemble for that big blind date, or school dance, or special night out with her husband. There is nothing like a confident and sexy Real Size woman! Did ya hear me? NOTHING LIKE IT! I started this site because I figured that if clothes can do that, there has to be more. This confident and sexy woman is inside of each and every one of us. The bottom line is that this site, my baby that I have been working on for over 2 years, is “About Us, By Us, For Us!!!!” We RealSize women have to live our lives today... not tomorrow, not after we lose that extra 15 pounds (or in my case, 60 pounds) that we have been losing “starting next Monday” for the past couple of years! This site is going to offer all of the fun and excitement that a RealSize woman can handle: health tips, fashion and beauty ideas, book reviews, tips for dating and sex, and my most personal favorite – TRAVEL. Always wanted to go to Europe? Pack your bags because we are on our way to tackle the world! We’ll also have plenty of mixers: Nights out at the theater, wine tasting, horse back riding, burlesque and pilates classes and much, much, much, more!
Most importantly, with your help, this will be the greatest plus size web site ever. Our goal is to help you love you for the beautiful woman that you are today and enjoy this wonderful life that you have been given! Whether you have always been fat, just got fat, are losing the fat - whatever! - today is the first day of the rest of your life, and you are not going to let another day pass you by! There is strength in numbers, and I tell you that we fat girls out number the not so fat! It is not my job to tell you to lose weight, it is my job to help you love the fabulous you that you are. You have to! So sit back, relax, cruise, and take in the RealSize experience. Don’t forget to let me and my friends know what you think and how you feel. After all, it is all about us (that includes my fat ass too!). Just think of us as your RealSize girlfriends - we’re hanging out, having a good time.
